Who is someone you consider rich? It’s probably someone who has more wealth than you. We tend to compare ourselves to others around us, and what others have can quickly become our “measuring stick” for contentment and thankfulness. This is often magnified when we face financial hardships. With many people in our nationfacing financial difficulties, it’s very easy to focus on what we don’t have rather than how God has faithfully provided for us. If we’re able to take a step back from our immediate and urgent circumstances and look the rest of the world, we can quickly see that God has taken care of us much more than we realize.

CURRICULUM: 

Join us this Sunday as we begin a 4-week series on Advent called “Advent Through the Eyes of Those Who Waited.”   As we all begin our preparations for Christmas, this is a right time to focus our studies together on preparing for the Messiah.  Each week in our study we will profile several biblical characters and their perspective of waiting for the Messiah, from the prophets to John the Baptist to Mary.   Thanks to the Hodges and the Metzners who will co-lead this study.

We will not have class on Sunday, November 27th, Christmas Day or New Year's Day.  Please take some time on these special days to attend service and enjoy time with your families.

SOCIAL:

Please join us for lunch on Sunday, November 20th following class in the Fellowship Hall.  We realize this is a busy week with Thanksgiving approaching however if you are in town, we would love to get together to start off the holiday week.

Save the date for the LAF Christmas Party to be held on Saturday, December 10th at the home of Kevin and Jo Hodges.  Join us to celebrate the Christmas season with dear friends, great food, and plenty of merriment.  The Hodges are bringing back the Champagne Bar this year!  Look for the Evite this Friday for all the details.

LAF LAND CRUISE 2012
We are repeating our LAF adults-only trip this spring, but this time we will travel by land rather than by sea (actually we'll travel by air to get to the land). The 2012 expedition is scheduled for April 12-15 in Negril, Jamaica at Riu Negril (http://www.riu.com/en/Paises/jamaica/negril/clubhotel-riu-negril/index.jsp). We have a package through Delta Vacations which includes roundtrip direct flights to Montego Bay, transfers to and from the hotel, all food and beverages for $2,031.84 per couple.
